This course is not just a training. It helps you to understand what lighting design is about and how it can deliver significant added value to your company or your own business. Participants who are willing to join this course should have first work experience in lighting design or technical planning of lighting fixtures.

Course content
- Distinguishing features between lighting planners and lighting designers
- Current and future-oriented trends in the design of indoor and outdoor lighting
- The principle of the guiding idea in planning practice
- Developing creative lighting concepts – drawing or writing?
- Practically testing design techniques in lighting planning, borrowed from the design thinking approach
- Structural typologies of lighting design, fuzzy frontend, lighting design according to Kelly, planning from the dark, inversions, etc.
- Simple and effective methods of non-computer-based and computer-based project visualization (drawing and graphic visualization)
- Human Centric Lighting (HCL): Designing lighting systems at the interface between emotional and biological effects
- Argumentative dramaturgy for presentations to customers/clients including exercises
- Commercial strategies / strategic approach for lighting designers in marketing their own planning services within their own company or to external customers
The course is part of the Academy's 20-day Certified Lighting Designer program. It does not require any prior drawing skills. The course is recognized as an alternative to the Advanced Certificate in Interior Lighting, serving as a Level 2 certificate for the Certified Lighting Designer in Interior Lighting qualification. It can also be booked as a supplementary module.
