The course schedule

Part A: Basic Certificate Light

In Part A of your training, you will first acquire the Basic certificate for interior lighting (3-day introduction, level 1) or the Basic certificate for outdoor lighting. We will provide you with basic knowledge of LEDs, lighting technology, standards, and lighting planning. You will then complete the advanced certificate in lighting consulting (2-day course, Level 2) in Part B. This course section corresponds to the module Advanced Certificate in Light & Business.

Part B: Advanced Certificate in Lighting Consulting (Light & Business) - 2 days - Level 2

Day 1: Professional Presenting, Advising/selling lighting products/services
Day 2: Develop/validate your own unique selling points, bring product/business ideas towards the lighting market

The advanced certificate in lighting consulting (Light & Business) will develop you into a professional consultant/salesperson for lighting products, lighting solutions, and lighting services. You'll also learn how to systematically develop business ideas/business areas and create unique selling points. Therefore, this module is very practical and interactive – including role plays and case studies in small groups.

Course content:

Day 1
  • Professional presentation of products and (planning) services
  • Gentle selling: presentations and self-moderation of workshops with (larger) customers as an alternative to face-to-face consultations
  • Initiate initial contacts and connect with customers
  • Levels and facets of good lighting advice: Convincing the customer - practical examples from the everyday life of a lighting consultant including aftersales
  • Acquiring and successfully implementing project business, including stakeholder management – from architects to developers. How does the market work? Which key players are essential to knowing? Which online/software tools should you use?
  • Handy tools / case studies / interactive exercises and role plays on all important topics
Day 2

A. Developing your own "lighting ideas"
  • Breakpoints in the fuzzy frontend of new business ideas
  • Structural aids that guide your creativity and record work results in a structured manner
  • Mirroring techniques: What is the new idea – what do the (new) customers want?
  • Tools: Design Thinking, Morphological Box, Empathy Map, Blue Ocean Strategy

B. Convert your own ideas into a business model
  • Interrelationships and visualization of business models
  • Mechanisms of action in the business model and iterative work for your own success
  • Bringing business models and simple financial planning together
  • Tools: Business Model Canvas, hypothesis testing, straightforward financial plans, success stories

Participants work together in groups on specific ideas. Informative presentation-style elements complement the knowledge transfer. Participation in this seminar is also worthwhile if you don't yet have a concrete idea of your own for the lighting market, but would still like to learn the modern tools of the trade based on the ideas of other course participants, how to professionally develop ideas and explore their market potential.

Training duration:
2 days (16 lessons)

To receive the certificate, participants must submit a homework assignment (test questions/lighting project) to the academy via email within four weeks. This further reinforces their lighting consultant knowledge.

Certified Lighting Consultant Interior Lighting (LPA)
or
Certified Lighting Consultant Outdoor Lighting (LPA)
If you complete the basic certificate interior basic certificate exterior advanced certificate lighting consulting (in any order), you will conclude as Certified Lighting Consultant / Certified Lighting Consultant from (8-day training, DACH-I certificate, level 3) - see also Certificate structures.

The course fee for the basic certificates (Part A) and the advanced certificate Part (B) is:
1,395.00 EUR (1,490 CHF in Zurich) VAT including catering, LightBOOSTER 2.0 software, Dialux/Relux, pCON Planner and Sketchbook. As a 1-week course (basic advanced): 2690 EUR VAT, as a more comprehensive DACH-I certificate (3 parts): 3895 € VAT.
