This 12h course familiarizes you with outdoor lighting technologies, standards (norms) and energetical calculations. Furthermore, in several exercises to will learn to set-up a proper road lighting design with respect to EN 13201-1 (roads, crossings, roundabouts, pedestrian crossings)

The course guides participants quickly and efficiently through all the technical and normative fundamentals of modern street and pathway lighting. They also learn how to plan street lighting in accordance with EN 13201. Together with the trainers, participants will thus acquire solid knowledge, which is a basic prerequisite for successful lighting planning. Training III is also the first part of the basic training.Basic Certificate in Lighting Planning for Outdoor Lighting".
In detail, the full-day course covers the following topics:
- Manufacturer-independent lamp and luminaire knowledge
- Trends, problems and opportunities in the use of modern LED lights
- Control of lighting systems including power reduction of light sources and energy saving concepts
- Standards and classes of street lighting (new standard EN 13201; status 2021; M, C, P class formations, etc.)
- Standards and classes of sports facility lighting (EN 12193; as of 2019)
- Standards and classes for lighting of outdoor workplaces 12464-2
- Meaning and treatment of stray light (LAIs, ÖNORM 1052)
- Rough planning "by hand"
- Excel-based planning aids (LPA Outdoor Lighting Tool)
- Special features when measuring outdoor lighting systems
- Economic efficiency calculations by hand or using LightBOOSTER 2.0
If you would like to attend this course at the Academy, prior participation in the Academy's Training I and Training II courses is not required, as these are primarily focused on interior lighting. Want to learn even more? Why not combine the course with a DIALUX training.
