This Lighting Professionals Academy is dedicated to participants who are highly interested in improving their personal background in both, lighting technologies and lighting design. The academy is owned by the German Association of Applied Light, located in Hamburg. This innovative think tank was founded in 2012 to facilitate knowledge transfer and further education in the lighting market. From 2024 on the Lighting Professionals Academy also offers an English course portfolio in or to internationalize and to attract participants from non-German speaking countries.

The Society for Applied Light (GFAL) is an innovative think tank focused on knowledge transfer in the lighting industry and an association of individuals active in continuing education in lighting technology, lighting planning, and modern digitalization processes in the lighting industry. Since its founding in 2012, it has been committed to disseminating specialist knowledge and continuing education in the lighting industry and operates this academy.
Light, training and innovations are our passion.
The academy is based on a network or association of experienced lighting technicians, lighting planners, lighting designers, sales coaches and soft skills trainers.
As a training and continuing education organization, the Academy aims to professionally develop your personal potential in the lighting market through training in face-to-face, hybrid learning, and purely online formats. Therefore, you can attend most of the Academy's courses either online or in person. Our training focus is on the closely integrated Triad lighting planning, lighting technology and lighting design.
A high-quality public training and continuing education program on the subject of lighting awaits you. Our second focus is the targeted development of companies in the lighting industry: We train in-house lighting planners and sales staff in national and international environments. We also support young companies in developing innovative business models (References).
Our organization, which is networked throughout Central Europe, but especially in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, is also happy to support you if you are looking for a suitable lighting planner in your region for a construction or planning project.

Time is money! You can earn a basic certificate in just three days!
Our academy program is aimed at all aspiring lighting professionals in the lighting industry. This includes consulting engineers, lighting company employees, electrical engineers, facility managers, architects, and employees of energy supply companies (utilities/public utilities).

In ourpublic coursesWe focus on a balance of current knowledge in lighting technology, lighting planning, and lighting design. All public courses are manufacturer-neutral. Basic Training I, II, and III, as well as the Basic Certificate in Lighting Planning for Indoor or Outdoor Lighting, are also offered in English.
In addition to the fundamentals of lighting technology and lighting planning, the academy provides you with a comprehensive overview of the various lighting technologies and design trends, such as Human Centric Lighting (HCL). In our courses, we place particular emphasis on alternating presentations with practical exercises and group work to make the transfer of knowledge as efficient and clear as possible. Our trainers, lecturers, and speakers are not only role models in their field, but above all have extensive experience in imparting lighting knowledge and lighting planning software, such as DIALUX EVO or RELUX.
